inflate 😈

Give it one boring, honest fact. Get back a full LinkedIn thought-leadership post β€” epiphany arc, fake paradox, fortune-cookie lesson, comment-farming question. Without inventing a single fact.

Input: "I fixed a typo in the docs." Requested level: maximum slop.

> /bullshit:inflate I fixed a typo in the docs. Make it maximum slop.

Shit-o-meter: 😈 95% [β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–Œ]

I almost didn't post this.

Last week, I did something "small." One character. One file. Nobody asked me to.

And it changed how I think about craftsmanship forever.

This isn't about a typo. It's about ownership. It's about caring when no one is watching.

The lesson: excellence isn't a task on your board. It's who you are between the tasks.

What's the smallest thing YOU did that changed everything? πŸ‘‡

♻️ Repost if you believe details matter.

#Craftsmanship #Ownership #GrowthMindset #Leadership #DevLife

The recipe: an epiphany arc wrapped around a one-character diff, a preemptive defense ("this isn't about a typo" β€” it is), an unfalsifiable double lesson, cadence-theater, a comment-farming question, and a repost plea. Fact count: one typo, faithfully preserved.

Install

Ships in the same plugin as deflate β€” one install, both directions. Output matches your input's language.

Inflate

Hand it a boring fact β€” optionally with a bloat level ("mild", "90%", "maximum slop"):

/bullshit:inflate <a plain, boring fact>

The recipe box

The exact same nine tells deflate detects β€” read as instructions instead of diagnoses. Know the trick, use the trick, spot the trick.

Personal-epiphany arc

Open with struggle, hit a dark night, then "and that's when I realized…".

the load-bearing tell

Fake paradox

Restate the obvious consequence as a mind-bending contradiction.

curiosity gap Β· pseudo-profundity

Bumper-sticker lesson

Close with a fortune cookie. A lesson that could be wrong is too specific.

vagueness is load-bearing

Cadence-theater

Every line its own paragraph. Drama by whitespace.

fluency-as-truth

Comment-farming question

"Has this happened to you? πŸ‘‡" β€” answerable by all eight billion humans.

a lever on the ranking function

Buzzword bolted on

AI / transformation / agile, where deleting them changes nothing.

trend-hijacking

Preemptive defense

"This isn't about layoffs." Reserve for high bloat β€” strongest spice.

apophasis

Giant hero number

Only if your input has a number β€” then never say how it was measured.

no number in, no number out

Borrowed authority

Only if you mentioned the big-name company. The logo argues for you.

never name-drops for you

The one rule

It never invents facts. No fabricated numbers, metrics, employers, credentials, or events β€” every factual claim in the output comes from your input. The inflation is 100% framing: paradoxes, epiphanies, lessons, and questions carry zero information, which is exactly the joke.

That's also the design test: feed the output back to deflate and you should get your original fact back β€” and nothing else. Cringe is the goal; fraud is out of scope.

And if you ask it why a trick works, it drops the bit and answers from the same grounded research catalog as its good twin: references/catalog.md β€” Cialdini, Pennycook, Green & Brock, Tversky & Kahneman, sources cited.
